In the wake of the viral incident involving Burna Boy and a fan during his performance at the Greater Lagos 2024 concert, the Afrobeat superstar has broken his silence. Responding to the widespread backlash, Burna Boy took to social media to explain his side of the story. According to the singer, he was startled by the fan’s sudden approach on stage, attributing his reaction to a personal struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
“Na condition make crayfish bend,” Burna Boy remarked in his post, hinting at the mental burden he carries as a global superstar constantly in the public eye. He further explained that the fast-paced lifestyle of performing across continents and dealing with the pressures of fame have contributed to his anxiety. “People no dey understand say we sef dey go through wahala,” Burna Boy added, emphasizing that celebrities, despite their glamorous lives, also have emotional and mental battles.
However, his explanation did little to douse the fire as fans continued to express disappointment. “You no fit just dey kick person like that because you dey vex,” one fan commented on Instagram. Another chimed in, “Abeg, no dey use PTSD do excuse. You gats control yourself as a public figure.”
Despite the criticism, some loyal supporters stood by Burna Boy, arguing that artists deserve empathy too. “E no easy to be Burna,” a Twitter user wrote, pointing out that dealing with crowds and unexpected situations on stage can be overwhelming.
As the conversation rages on, it’s clear that this incident has sparked a broader dialogue on mental health, celebrity behavior, and the need for accountability. “Las las, everybody go dey alright,” but for now, Burna Boy remains under intense scrutiny. Whether he will issue a formal apology or let the matter rest remains to be seen.
